Old shade cloth in good condition is what we always look for. A piece of shade cloth here and there helps young plants get used to the searing sun. But there are lots of other useful bits and pieces too - old garden tools, plastic trellis, chicken wire.
One of our previous Tip Shop finds has got a new use this weekend. A box that Tr
evor got to transport the body of our passed away beloved dog Jessie back to Yuendumu, is now a great pond for growing kang kong (Swamp cabbage). We are using the run off from the evaporative air conditioner to keep the water topped up.A strong circle of steel mesh is needed around it though. The dogs are looking at the water with interest - a nice meal of fresh greens accompanied by a cool place to paddle. Irresistible in the 40 plus heat we are currently experiencing.
Happy recycling
Susan
